Noisy Punks CLAMM Drop New EP “Disembodiment”

CLAMM Band

Naarm/Melbourne punk trio CLAMM have released their latest EP, Disembodiment, out now via Meat Machine Records. This marks the band’s first new music since their 2022 album Care and includes the previously released single “Change Enough”.

Recorded during a brief break on their third international tour, Disembodiment was captured in just two days at Katzwijm Studios in the Netherlands. The EP’s tracks explore themes of cultural and political pressures, with lead singer Jack Summers addressing issues like materialism, the illusion of freedom, and societal expectations.

The title track, “Disembodiment”, questions the purpose of life under these pressures, with Summers asking, “what’s the fuckin’ point?” in a world where the cost of living is high and expectations are even higher. “Change Enough” emphasizes the importance of personal transformation, especially in times of global turmoil, while “Define Free” challenges the idea of freedom in modern capitalist societies.

Away from the noise to create noise

In a recent interview with AAABackstage, Summers explained the EP’s title track, sharing that it reflects the strain of modern life: “…we are constantly being asked to step outside of the wants and needs of our bodies in order to work. I hope that people feel a sense of togetherness rather than isolation… I cannot help but ask what is the actual point of all of it.” The unique recording environment—an old tulip farm in the Netherlands—provided a stark contrast to the band’s intense themes, offering a quiet space that was “really important and necessary… away from the noise”. Arguably to create a responsive noise we need now more than ever.

CLAMM is currently on a headline UK/EU tour, with dates across the Netherlands, Norway, the UK, and France.

Disembodiment is available now on all major streaming platforms.
