New Django Django Off Planet Album

In the same vein as Rozi Plain, Django Django have become something of a quiet institution in people’s minds. So iconic was their first release. But so progressive and beyond decent is their output.
As a band they haven’t only created strong sounds that resonate with people but crafted some seriously striking music videos too. I raise Hailbop as an example.
The above leads nicely to the topic of this article. A new album from Django Django that is as strong musically as it is visually. In their own modest yet chaotic style, “thedjangos” have done it again.
Introducing Off Planet by Django Django
Django Django’s Off Planet album, released via Because Music on June 16, 2023 is the latest release from the Scottish and Irish Band. The album’s reception has spotlighted tracks that blend house, electronic music, pop, and more.
The 4 disc, 21 track album features a whole host of collaborations with artists like Self Esteem, Jack Peñate, and Yuuko Sings.

Songs such as “Wishbone” and “Don’t Touch That Dial (featuring Yuuko Sings)” showcase the band’s ability to fuse different genres, from dance to more introspective melodies.
The album closes with tracks “Black Cadillac” and “Gazelle,” where the experimental essence that Django Django is known for makes a strong return. Across these two tracks you can hear disco-y funk sounds, hypnotic loops and much more!
Music Videos from Off Planet.
Django Django’s really brought Off Planet to life by dropping a load of music videos alongside the release.
- The video for “Black Cadillac” is mad! Prepare yourself for fisheye filmmaking, aliens, Guinness and more!
- Then there’s “No Time ft. Jack Peñate” – modern indie looking video with nice city shots and chill scenes that seem to chart an entire relationship across 3mins. Perfectly fits the electro-pop sound.
Final Thoughts on Django Django's "Off Planet!" Album.
Basically, for Django Django fans, this album marks a welcome return since the re-release of the “Django Django” debut for it’s 10 year anniversary. To new listeners, it’s hopefully an insight into a band you should have definitely been listening to for 10 years.
A decade since their iconic debut and still on top of their game. It’s always great to see talented musicians and artists continuing to explore, develop and sculpt their sound.
Django Django are no different here. Band members David Maclean, Vincent Neff, Jimmy Dixon, and Tommy Grace continue to inspire and evolve with an Animal Collective & DEVO-like talent and energy. Off Planet’s production, collabs, music videos and range makes sure of it.
