Fontaines D.C. here's the thing single album cover

Fontaines D.C. are back with “Here’s The Thing” the latest single from their upcoming album ROMANCE, set to drop on 23rd August via XL Recordings. This is the third taste of the album we’ve gotten so far, following “Starburster” and “Favourite”.

Frontman Grian Chatten describes the track as an “anxious tune that twists and turns in what it wants, back and forth between pain and numbness.” Written just days before they hit the studio, the song captures a raw, urgent energy. Chatten calls it “an urgent song, searching for autonomy in emotional extremes.”

New Fontaines D.C. Album

Fontaines D.C. have announced their new album, Romance, set to release on August 23 under XL Recordings. The announcement was accompanied by the release of a new single, “Starburster”, along with a video directed by Aube Perrie. This will be the band’s first album produced by James Ford, known for his work with Arctic Monkeys and Blur.

Starburster

Fontaines D.C.’s new song “Starburster” is a raw portrayal of frontman Grian Chatten’s panic attack in a London tube station. The track, set to appear on their upcoming album Romance (out August 23), blends funky disco-rock with intense, stream-of-consciousness lyrics, reflecting Chatten’s anxiety. The video accompanying the song amplifies its tension.

The band spent nearly two months writing and recording the album, working with producer James Ford in a Paris chateau. Guitarist Conor Deegan explained that the album title reflects their continued exploration of romanticism, evolving from their Irish roots explored in previous albums.

On top of that, Fontaines D.C. have one of their biggest headline gigs coming in 2025 in the iconic Finsbury Park, London, on 5th July 2025. They bring along Kneecap as warmup act.
