Find expansive sounds, capturing the essence of late-night raves with deep, repeating pads and swirling electronics.
More About Madrid by Ishmael Ensemble
“Madrid” emerged from an extended improvised synth session nearly a decade ago. Band leader Pete Cunningham, along with his cousin Freddy and the team at Riverette Studio in Madrid, initially crafted the track. Forgotten in the archives, the idea resurfaced during preparations for an artist residency at El Ganzo studios in Mexico in March 2023.
Musical Composition
The track is a blend of deep, repetitive pads and swirling electronics, characteristic of Ishmael Ensemble’s live performances. The band’s sound has grown bigger and bolder, partly due to finishing the album with Grammy-winning producer Ali Staton, known for his work with Madonna, Lamb, and Lorde, at Real World Studios.
