Ken Ishii and Yuada Release Techno Collaboration “Split Second” on Cocoon Compilation V

Japanese techno pioneer Ken Ishii has teamed up with producer Yuada for a new track titled “Split Second”, released June 27 as part of Cocoon Compilation V. The track is available digitally via Cocoon Recordings and streaming platforms including Bandcamp, Spotify, and Apple Music.

Clocking in at 5 minutes and 22 seconds, “Split Second” is a tightly wound piece of peak-time techno, combining Ishii’s signature precision with Yuada’s modular intensity.

It’s a driving, detailed production that builds through spiraling synth pulses and percussive flickers, giving just enough release without ever breaking its relentless momentum.

The track features as part of the Cocoon Compilation V, the latest installment in the long-running series from Sven Väth’s Frankfurt-based Cocoon Recordings.

The 2025 edition includes new material from artists across the European and Japanese electronic scenes, released in both digital format and a now sold-out 6×12” olive vinyl box set.

Ken Ishii—widely regarded as one of the foundational figures of Japanese techno—has remained active this year with a string of releases, including Scapegoat and the Giant Killer EP. “Split Second” marks another high-profile collaboration for Ishii following his Focus EP with Yuada earlier in January.

For Yuada, the track continues a rising trajectory through the European club circuit, with previous features on ARTS and Modularz and growing support from DJs across Berlin and Tokyo.

Listen to “Split Second” now on Bandcamp and other major platforms.
