La Femme’s “Télégraphe” from “La Femme Ressort”

French psych-pop band La Femme revisits their roots with the reissue of their first EP “La Femme Ressort” featuring a fresh take on their early iconic songs, including “Télégraphe”.
Released on January 19, 2024, “Télégraphe” is part of the reissue of La Femme’s first EP, “La Femme Ressort” originally released in 2011. This reissue offers four new versions of their iconic tracks, each bringing a renewed perspective to the band’s early work. The EP is available for streaming and download, and as a limited edition vinyl, with each copy numbered from 1 to 1000, marking a special collector’s item for fans.
A Reflection on Evolution and Growth
In revisiting their early songs for “La Femme Ressort” band member Sacha from La Femme reflected on the evolution of their songwriting and production methods. Initially recording with a minimal setup on GarageBand, the band has since gained extensive experience in the recording process. While their songwriting might have become more classic in structure over time, the band retains its penchant for surrealistic lyrics and unconventional song structures, as seen in their latest works.
The Evolution from “Sur la Planche” to “Télégraphe”
The reissue also includes new versions of other tracks such as “Sur la Planche,” showcasing the band’s continuous evolution. Sacha mentioned the decision to reissue these songs stemmed from the desire to make them available on streaming platforms and to present them with better sound quality. The new mix of “Sur la Planche” and the inclusion of “Télégraphe” which was not part of their album “Psycho Tropical Berlin” exemplify this effort.
The Band’s Current Dynamics
Discussing the band’s dynamics, Sacha mentioned that while some original members like Clémence Quélennec have left, they still contribute occasionally. The band now includes singers Fanny Luzignant and Ysé Grospiron, adding new dimensions to their sound.
Upcoming Performances and Projects
La Femme continues to tour internationally, showcasing their diverse musical style that blends electronic, rock, pop, and synth-pop elements. Their latest album, “Paris-Hawaï” reflects their unique approach to music-making, drawing inspiration from various sources, including Hawaiian music.
“Télégraphe” from the reissue “La Femme Ressort” not only serves as a bridge connecting the past and present of La Femme’s music but also offers a glimpse into the band’s continuous exploration and experimentation in the world of psych-pop and beyond.
