Deerhoof Release New Album Miracle-Level
Deerhoof, the indie rock innovators, are back with their 19th album, “Miracle-Level,” a breathtaking departure into new creative territory. This time, the entire album is a homage to the miraculous, a celebration of life’s wonders set to captivating melodies and hypnotic vocals, all sung in Japanese.
“Miracle-Level,” released on March 31, 2023, marks a milestone for Deerhoof. Their first album entirely produced, recorded, and mixed in a studio, thanks to the guidance of Mike Bradavski at No Fun Studios in Winnipeg, Manitoba. This change brought fresh energy to the band’s signature sound, allowing the songs to shine with clarity.
The beauty of “Miracle-Level” lies not only in its music but the message. Through tracks like “My Lovely Cat!” and “Everybody, Marvel,” Deerhoof focuses on appreciation of life’s small moments, and the importance of love—miracle-level love.
Japanese Lyrics and Standout tracks
Frontwoman Satomi Matsuzaki’s decision to sing exclusively in Japanese adds an extra layer of depth to the album. Her native language infuses the lyrics with heartfelt sentiment, and while not everyone may understand the words, the sound and emotion carries. .
