New Music: Sofie Birch & Antonina Nowacka — Hiraeth

Improvised ambient folk recorded in Southern Poland

Hiraeth marks the second collaboration between ambient composer Sofie Birch and experimental vocalist Antonina Nowacka.

Sofie Birch & Antonina Nowacka

Recorded in the countryside of Southern Poland using tape, guitar, zither, and voice, the album blends improvised folk with ambient textures.

Post-recording, the duo added synth and organ layers in studio, preserving the intimacy of the original sessions while expanding the sonic palette. The project leans toward pastoral, acoustic sounds, with a clear focus on voice and breath.

Get your yoga mats out for this one or maybe avoid it while driving.
