London-based synth-punk outfit Powerplant will release a new EP titled Heat on July 11 via Bandcamp. The five-track release includes new material described by the band as a “quick little EP” ahead of upcoming live dates, including a show at London’s Moth Club on release day.
Tracklist and Previews
Heat includes five songs:
- Heat
- Empty Telephone
- Leaving the Dream
- Quiet Heat
- Extreme Heroin
As of this writing, “Leaving the Dream” and “Quiet Heat” are available to stream. The latter is a subdued, reworked version of the EP’s title track. The digital album is available for pre-order now and will be free following its release.

The EP was written by vocalist and founding member Theo Zhykharyev, with production handled by Stanley ‘Grave’ Gravett, who also tracked vocals for the opener. Additional band members include Cam Pickering (synth), Karim Newble (bass), and Lloyd Clipston (drums).
Background and Recent Activity

Powerplant originated as Zhykharyev’s solo project in the late 2010s, gaining traction with the 2019 release People in the Sun. That record helped establish their hybrid of punk, hardcore, and synth-heavy electronics. The transition to a full-band setup over recent years has added depth to their sound while maintaining the lo-fi urgency of their early material.
The group released their last full-length album, Grass, in 2023, which continued to blur lines between electronic minimalism and hardcore intensity.
Live Performance
Powerplant will perform at London’s Moth Club on July 11 to mark the release of Heat. The show is expected to include material from the EP.
