Vintage & second hand stores to visit in Brussels

If you’re like us, discovering second hand and vintage stores in a new city is a ritual. The Belgian capital is full of antique shops, thrift stores and second hand stores of all kinds, with so many choices that it becomes difficult to know where to start. After visiting most of them, we have made a selection of our best addresses, for their low prices (obviously), their selection or their originality.

Most tourists who are interested in vintage shopping in Brussels often start by visiting the Sablons neighborhood because of its central location and variety of shops. The area is home to the popular Rue Blaes and Rue Haute, which run parallel to each other and offer a range of trendy cafes, curiosity shops, and second hand stores. This makes Sablons a great starting point for visitors who want to explore the city’s vintage shopping scene, as it offers a mix of both traditional and modern shopping experiences. Many other areas in the city that offer unique vintage shopping experiences, which we will highlight in this article.

Here are our subjective recommendations of vintage and second hand stores to visit in Brussels:

Vintage Seventies

Address: Rue Haute 244, 1000 Brussels

Vintage Seventies is a narrow vintage shop on Rue Haute that offers a fantastic selection of 1970s vintage clothing and 1970’s inspired clothes. Among all the second hand stores on this same street, it’s easy to overlook this little shop, but it remains our favorite: the selection of clothes and accessories is excellent, the owner is extremely friendly, and the prices are more than reasonable, at 15€ per kilo.

This store is one of those where you have to come back regularly to find the best finds at the best prices!

Visit the Vintage Seventies Instagram for updates.

Boutique Jipex

Address: N247, 1050 Ixelles (more existing locations)

Another notable second hand store in Brussels is Boutique Jipex. With four locations in Brussels alone, Boutique Jipex offers a variety of options for customers to explore, with prices starting as low as 3€. Definitely an opportunity for bargain hunting!

Depending on the location, your finds might be different – we recommend the Ixelles location for its wide range of choice in leather jackets.

Visit their Facebook and Instagram pages for updates.

Jat Vintage

Address: Chau. de Wavre 139, 1050 Ixelles

Jat Vintage is a second hand store located in a small street of Ixelles. The shop offers an amazing selection of clothes from any era you like (if you dig a little). From accessories to 90s Dr. Martens, this address is a gem.

Visit the shop regularly for sales, discounts on students and even better bargains!

Les Petits Riens

Address: Rue Haute 188 – 1000 Bruxelles (see more existing locations)

Father Edouard Froidure created Les Petits Riens in Brussels in the 1930s to collect and resell second hand objects to support people in need. After more than 75 years, Les Petits Riens still adheres to Father Froidure’s vision and is one of the many initiatives of the Abbé Froidure Federation, which primarily focuses on helping children in difficulty.

With 28 shops in Belgium and more than 10 in the Brussels-capital region, Les Petits Riens is the ideal first stop if you’re looking to buy second hand near where you are staying.

Visit Les Petits Riens’ website for more information on all the existing locations and more precisions on their social actions.

Gabriele Vintage

Address: No fixed address (pop-up stores, events…)

An honourable mention to the recently closed Gabriel Vintage. Although their physical store is no longer open, this was one of the most special vintage stores in Brussels. Meticulously organised by date, incredible quality and completely appropriate pricing makes this place unrivalled. We were there during their final week of operation where live music, drinks and joy filled the space with customers old and new making their way in and out of the hidden gems.

Thankfully, Gabriele Vintage has announced the possibility of visiting their warehouse on appointment. They will also participate to many future events, such as pop-up stores and vintage events.

Visit their Instagram page and their website for more information on upcoming participation to events.

Brussels' Flea Market

Address: Place du jeu de balle

The flea market Place du jeu de balle is an inescapable stop when visiting Brussels. This traditional market has been taking place since the 1800s (although in another location)! Every day, second hand dealers meet on the Place du jeu de balle to sell their goods. Vintage furniture, second hand clothes, old photos and vintage jewelries are an array of what’s on offer.

This location is a staple if you’re looking for any kind of vintage good. As opposed to vintage shops, don’t forget you can bargain a little! It is on daily from 9am to 2pm during the week, and to 3pm on weekends.

Brussels Vintage Market

Address: Rue de Ligne 8, 1000 Bruxelles

Brussels Vintage Market or BVM is the biggest vintage market in Brussels since 2010.  This monthly event is a great way to not only discover vintage and second hand clothes and items sellers, but also local designers and creators. The prices are budget-friendly and the selection is extremely varied as it changes every month. The atmosphere is fun and relaxed, and the music is great! It is a great location to dig for records too.

At the moment, the event takes place at Reset, a former bank in the centre of Brussels.
