Snapped Ankles Release New Album HARD TIMES FURIOUS DANCING.

Snapped Ankles have built a cult following with their genre-blurring mix of post-punk, performance art, and raw energy. Shrouded in mystery—both in their sound and their ghillie suit-clad appearances—the London-based band has remained enigmatic since forming in 2011.

With a sound that fuses krautrock rhythms, art-rock aesthetics, and political urgency, they’ve carved out a niche that feels both primal and modern.

Signed to The Leaf Label since 2017, Snapped Ankles have released four studio albums, with their fifth, Hard Times Furious Dancing, set to arrive in March 2025.

Snapped Ankles Hard Times Furious Dancing

Snapped Ankles return with Hard Times Furious Dancing, their most urgent and electrified album yet.

Set for release on March 28, 2025, through The Leaf Label, the album channels the chaos of modern life into a primal, dance-fueled escape.

Inspired by Alice Walker’s Hard Times Require Furious Dancing, the band leans into their signature blend of pulsing rhythms, jagged synths and surreal storytelling, capturing the raw energy of their live performances.

Available in digital, CD and vinyl formats—including a limited ‘Weird & Eerie’ luminous edition—the album invites listeners to leave behind the noise of the present and move to the beat of the forest.

Reputation and the Quietus Interview

Snapped Ankles have built a reputation for their chaotic energy, DIY ethos, and a mythology that blurs the line between performance and reality.

Ahead of their set at Supersonic Festival, the band discussed their origins in East London’s warehouse scene, their signature log-synths, and the playful menace behind their ghillie suit-clad performances. They also touched on their cinematic influences, from Jean-Luc Godard to Star Trek, and the political undertones of their music. Read the full interview here.

Newest Album Hard Times Furious Dancing

Snapped Ankles return with Hard Times Furious Dancing, out March 28 on The Leaf Label. The album’s lead single, Raoul, is a jittery, synth-driven track. A fevered geopolitical debate almost with unreliable narrators, punctuated by howling dogs and buzzing electronics.

The track arrives with a cryptic, VHS-style video—a surreal journey through town and sea featuring masked figures, a radiator-dragging giant, and a suited crow wielding a balloon and pin.

Its unsettling imagery, paired with lyrics like “everybody look the other way”, suburban horror almost.

Snapped Ankles’ signature sound—urgent vocals, pounding rhythms, and warped electronics—remains intact, delivering a danceable paranoia reminiscent of a swamp-dwelling Talking Heads.

Rhythm is their business.

Alongside the album, the band is launching a GoFundTrees campaign to address the rising costs of touring.

Hard Times Furious Dancing will be available in multiple formats, including limited-edition ‘Weird & Eerie’ luminous vinyl LP.
