Wombo’s New Single “Neon Bog”

Louisville trio Wombo have released a new single, “Neon Bog”, from their upcoming album Danger in Fives, out August 8 via Fire Talk. The track is available to stream and purchase now via Bandcamp.

Song Details

Neon Bog” is the sixth track on Danger in Fives. It features vocals from Sydney Chadwick, guitar from Cameron Lowe, and drums by Joel Taylor. The recording includes distorted vocal effects resulting from the use of a guitar amp simulator. The song is built around a repeating cowbell pattern and incorporates ambient textures and unconventional studio techniques.

The accompanying music video was directed by guitarist Cameron Lowe and uses practical effects and full-scale handmade sets. The band cited director Michel Gondry as an influence on the video’s visual approach.

About the Album

Wombo Band Press Photo

Danger in Fives is Wombo’s third full-length album and follows their 2022 release Fairy Rust. According to the band, the new record departs from previous writing methods. Guitarist Lowe created over 30 demos, which were later refined with the group. The final tracklist includes 11 songs, two of which—“Danger in Fives” and “Neon Bog”—are currently available.

Unlike past releases, Danger in Fives incorporates digital production techniques and instrument changes. “Neon Bog” is the only Wombo track to date that does not feature Chadwick’s usual Danelectro bass, instead using a Peavey Foundation.
